Teens are making better choices nowadays than ever before

  • Marijuana use rises while dangerous alcohol abuse declines. Very good news for the younger generations and older folks who have seen alcohol destroy many lives (many times unintentionally).

Survey: Teen pot use rises, alcohol use declines - Yahoo! News

From Yahoo! News: More teens are turning to pot and see it as less of a risk at the same time alcohol use among the same age group has dipped to historic lows, according to an annual national survey of drug use released Wednesday.

  • I love beer and I don't touch the wacky weed, but I agree, that's a positive thing. Ridiculous that pot is still illegal in most states.

  • That is good news. These things go back and forth though. LSD will spike for a few years and decline. Coke does the same. Meth. But I hope that trend never reverses.

  • I hope kids stay away from Liqour, Cocaine, Meth, and opiates. You can experiment with some of the other stuff and come away with no real issues. Obviously its best not to do any of it but the substances I mentioned will really back you into a corner.

And yes I hope this trend continues. I've always thought that hard liqour should be illegal, and pot legal.

Agreed with everything except opiates. Many back problems. Just don't do them everyday.

I'm talking about kids. Kids definitely need to stay away from em. Now adults with pain may have no other choice.

I agree... only in America, can things be so bass-ackwards.

Btw... and this is coming from someone whose had a long standing love affair with liquor and never got past first base with marijuana. Thank God for common sense, huh?

Actually--it's pretty much that way everywhere.

  • I saw something on the news about governors from like 5 states trying to get marijuana lowered on the classification list. I think that's just common sense. As it is now it's considered in the same classification as cocaine, meth, heroin, and the like. Ridiculous.

  • Actually cocaine and heroin are in a "better" classification than pot. Pot has no medicinal value ever under any circumstance according to the DEA schedule of narcotics. That's not the case with cocaine and heroin (well, opiates).

  • I used to love liquor too (can drink beer, but why drink 12 when you can have a few mixed, strong-"butt" drinks), but I never felt so crappy in my life buyin' bottle after bottle every couple of days. Synthetic heroin and opiates are the way to go. I still think there is a future in medicinal value for marijuana, IMHO. Sometimes I completely lose my appetite and can't eat anything until 1 or 2 in the afternoon? Well, I can't just man-up and eat because I can't, so I just call my doctor and light one up: problem solved. I'm sure there are people with much greater problems than me who can use medicinal mary for at least temporary solutions.

  • Of course marijuana has medicinal value. It's been proven to help with glaucoma and appetite. It also helps with pain and is less intense and damaging to the body than painkillers like Lortabs. It's legal on a medicinal basis in several states. I don't understand how the DEA can justify their stance.

Helping with appetite can keep people alive with diseases such as AIDS, Cancer especially while on chemo. And a variety of other diseases. The medicinal value is off the charts. There are also many ways in which you can ingest it that don't cause harm to your lungs. A ridiculous amount of people out there that could benefit from it being legalized. The illegal sale would not be any worse than narcotics such as Lortabs, Oxycodone, Oxycontin, Hydromorphone, oxymorphone, Xanax, Valium, etc.

    And a helluva lot cheaper.
