The English Language... it's SO Confusing!

  • It makes us ALL sound dumb as hell... who made up these bullshit words anyway? Why can't everything have it's own unique spelling... and be it's own unique "word"?
It's easy to understand why English is the most difficult language to learn... on the entire damn planet.

So, do you think English is easy? Does any of this sound like the language of an advanced, well educated society? I think not.

    1) The bandage was wound around the wound.
    2) The farm was used to produce produce.
    3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse .
    4) We must polish the Polish furniture.
    5) He could lead if he would get the lead out.
    6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.
    7) Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present.
    8) A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.
    9) When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.
    10) I did not object to the object.
    11) The insurance was invalid for the invalid.
    12) There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row
    13) They were too close to the door to close it.
    14) The buck does funny things when the does are present.
    15) A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line.
    16) To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.
    17) The wind was too strong to wind the sail.
    18) Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.
    19) I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.
    20) How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?

Sadly, that's only a small sample of the idiotic mass confusion... better known as the English Language.

I didn't have any problems reading that. Syntax is an awesome thing to understand.

    Keep Calm & Stoops On..

  • Yeah, luckily for those of us who grew up with the language, we have no problem reading that craziness... but imagine moving here from another country as an adult and trying to learn it (or worse, being "forced" to learn it). It's much more difficult than I ever imagined... and I have a new found respect for those who brought their families to America in search of freedom and a better life. Hell, most English speaking people can't speak any other language, because they're either (1) not interested and don't feel the need... or (2) have tried and given up a number of times, because it's TOO hard.
My point is... most of us can't even learn, what is supposed to be, an "easier" language (like Spanish)... yet, we expect all foreigners in America to speak English.

IT'S JUST NOT THAT SIMPLE... that's all I'm sayin' (see... that was another example when I replaced the "g" with a (') on the word "saying") lol

Thank God we were born in America... for numerous reasons. peace
