Yeah. It was someone else. You've been accusing me since I started and you are suddenly accusing someone else. Who was being hateful and argumentative again? Look in the mirror.

  • 6-1 speaks for itself. I don't care who you've played. No one said he's going to be a super bowl winning QB. They've got the winning formula right now in Denver. Run the ball, stop the run, control the clock, and don't turn the ball over. You'll always have a chance to win any game on any level if you take care of those things. They'll be lucky to make the playoffs, but that doesn't make what he's done this year any less remarkable.

  • I've never, ever heard that Tebow was hated by his teammates. I keep hearing that he forces his beliefs on others and on his teammates. I also heard how when he was at Florida, his teammates went above and beyond to protect him FROM GETTING LAID! Because they respected him and his beliefs. I heard how at the Wonderlic test, he asked, "Is it ok if we pray?" then he promptly got cussed out. Tim Tebow is a fine young man who just wins. He has a knack for getting his teammates to follow him. I get the "nobody likes a goody 2 shoes" argument. I do believe it's more that than his religion, but some of it is because of his Christianity. There is a backlash in this country for being an outspoken Christian. And Christians should expect that because Jesus told us it would happen. I love Tim Tebow, and I hope he succeeds long-term in this league.

Isn't this thread the very definition of a baiting thread? JDrumm starts a controversial thread, and the 30 replies later, the man's disappeared. Doesn't seem right.

  • I'm no bible scholar but isn't there a parable where Jesus teaches that you shouldn't pray in the streets so people can see you and say "oh what a great and righteous man he is". Instead pray in private because God can hear you wherever you pray. He's teaching that you shouldn't show off your christianity. It seems a Jesus freak like Tebow would know of this parable. If I know it surely he knows it. Or perhaps he's going against the teachings of Jesus on purpose. He isn't being humble about it. Jesus said he should be.

It's not new, but certain Christians like to portray themselves in an us vs. them, we're the underdog type of light. It's not true, and I don't know if that's how Tebow believes, but some are eating it up over Tebow and battle lines are getting drawn (or redrawn).

A lot of us don't appreciate the idea that God's gifts or God's mercies are going to be made manifest on a football field. There are going to be evil people who succeed (most of them wear really ugly orange) and fine Christians who fail. I can't think of anything Tebow has said that particularly offends me, but our boy Stevie Johnson said something last year that was very disconcerting--about how God let him drop a touchdown pass. That's just bad theology. If it's God that lets you make a touchdown, then it's also God who let the other guy got beat.

That's funny coming from someone who doesn't believe in Jesus or his teachings at all... and refers to those of us who do, as Jesus freaks. Jesus also said thou shall not judge... but that obviously, don't mean anything to you. You're a non-believer, so what's it matter to you what Jesus says?

You're wrong.... Christians can pray anywhere at anytime. It's "how" a person prays that may be an issue. There's a time to pray aloud and there'e a time to pray in silence, but there IS a proper way to do it even while on the job and/or around others in public. The only thing Tebow has done, is speak openly about his Christianity... but I have NOT seen or heard of him trying to FORCE it on anyone. Those who say or think so, are just Christian haters who say the same thing about ALL Christians.

A Christian who remains silent and doesn't share his faith, is denying God... and thus, is NO Christian at all. Followers of Jesus Christ will profess their faith in him til their death... ESPECIALLY, in the face of the anti-Christ and those who HATE Jesus (and Christians alike)

I'm pretty much with you throughout this whole thread. And I'll add that the best thing about Tebow is his ability to be a role model for kids. And bottom line part of being a christian is professing your faith for others to see. Its about sharing the word of god. Not only does Tebow do it on where we can see he also does it where we can't. Mission trips etc.

The irony is you quote Jesus saying "thou shall not judge" and spend 3 paragraphs judging me and anyone that doesn't believe in what you believe. Some of us don't hate christianity so much as the hypocrisy those that profess it indulge in. Your post is a fine example of it. Instead of attacking me personally in every one of your posts you should argue against the things I say you disagree with. Since I'm not a christian I don't have to abide by judging rules. I'm sure there are ways to do it in public. You do it silently to yourself. You don't display it for all to see. Jesus said so.

    You're wrong.

Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

And to go more in depth about it:

    Matthew 6:5 - 7

    5. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites [are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Jesus says you must definitely not pray as the hypocrites pray.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Here Jesus says when thou prayest, you must pray this way:
    (1) enter into thy closet.
    (2) shut the door.
    (3) pray to thy Father which is in secret.
    (4) use not vain repetitions.
(Prayer must be in private, not in front of other people.
Do not repeat things over and over again in prayer)

An attribute of a true Christian is: He only prays in private, never in public.

Show me where I've "judged" you... disagreeing with you is NOT judging. Pointing things out to you is NOT judging. Again, you don't understand what it means to be a Christian.

If I were to say something like.. "You're going to hell and suffer painful torment for eternity"... THAT would be judging. Only God can judge in that way. You haven't a clue what you are talking about. You should leave Christianity to real Christians... until you allow Jesus into your heart and really understand what it means to be one yourself. That is, "IF" you ever do.

Oh wait.. I almost forgot to force my Christianity on you. pray

That emoticon should be banned from this site.... it's not right to force Christianity on others. Anyone who uses praying hands in there post, MUST be trying to force their religion on others, right? SMDH

I happen to be one who prays in private... but to berate others who DO pray openly and in public IS judging. Rather or not they are being hypocrites or praying in vain repetitions, is for God to be the ultimate judge of... not you (ya)

Btw... in order to interpret those verses correctly, one would have to understand the complete context of MANY other verses. Yes, there ARE times when closet prayer is required... but it's NOT the ONLY acceptable manner in which to pray.

    I pray for (ya)

  • As a human being I have the right to judge whoever and whatever I like. We all have that right and we all exercise that right. It's just that some of us aren't hypocritical about it. And there aren't any context issues with those passages. Unless the bible contradicts itself it's there in black and white as spoken by Jesus. If you believe the bible.

Brad, I know how the topic of Christianity puts you on edge. I know from previous discussions, that you tend to have a problem with anyone who identifies as being Christian.

Btw... you may think it's funny, but I'm not trying to make you laugh.

You are a fool. . . And stop making statements like I tend to have a problem with anyone who identifies as being a christian, it is completely false. . .

Okay, let me get this straight... you can make offensive, false claims about someone such as this:

"I don't believe the "Tebow Act". . . I think he does it for show, and think he is a fraud. . . He is transparent. . . If you buy into it then you are delusional. . ."

Yet, when someone makes false claims about you... you call them a "FOOL"? Wow... now I want you to ponder on that a while.... let it marinate real good and then, tell me who the fool is.

Why the name-calling Brad? Did I hit a nerve? I'm sorry if I misspoke... what I SHOULD have said is: You tend to have a problem with any Christian who "practices" his faith in public or "speaks so openly" about it in a public forum.

Now... if I'm still a fool for that comment, then you need work on your typing skills... because I can go back about 6 or 7 months and show you MANY post where you gave "that" impression. Again, if I'm wrong... it's because your own post led me to believe this way.

Maybe you should go back an do alot editing shrug

It appears that the re-emergence of our special friend (and I do mean "special")... has turned the boards upside down again and stirred up a riot. He was always good at that. I just wish some people wouldn't fall for his BS so easily. He don't have me fooled at all.

  • Tebow does not have the benefit of ProBowl supporting cast. He doesn't turn the ball over. Lulls opposing defenses to sleep- then throws at blown coverages.

Broncos are winning with field position, Defense and timely big plays. Nobody mentions Alex Smith... But he too is a former Urban Meyer spread retread that is kicking ass with aforementioned formula.

Tebow has beat, Kansas City, Oakland, Minnesota, San Diego, and NYJ. . . Not exactly powerhouses, and they've all been close games. . . And looking forward Denver has more weak ass games coming up. . . They have one of the softest schedules I think I've ever seen, lol, the only good team they have left is New England in 2 weeks. . . The guy finds a way to win, but he's not exactly beating good teams yet. . .

hey, hey don't tell Rex Ryan his team is not a powerhouse. that team is Super Bowl bound baby.
