Tim Tebow ... the Christian

  • JawJacker said...

I really can't say he's a bad QB... he's just a different kind of QB. He's a football player first and that's what I like... he's a tough competitor and does whatever he can to win. That may not always equate to great passing numbers, but combined with his rushing... he usually, gets the job done. He's a team player who's earned the trust and respect of his teammates... and his kind of overall leadership on and off the field, plays a great role in how Denver plays as a "team". He and the team are experiencing some growing pains, as expected, but they battle hard and Tebow plays like a warrior. He has the heart of a lion... and his team feeds off that. I look for them to only get better with Tebow... and I expect them to be a playoff team for years to come.

    Thats more like it.

Tim Tebow the person is a good person. Tim Tebow the QB is very very bad. He may be one of the few cases where his ability to create and keep plays alive will hurt more than help. Mike Vick suffers from this as well. They are so good at getting out of trouble they dont understand sometimes its okay to take a sack and live to fight another day.

I would agree with this, and add.....I don't see Tebow making it as an every down QB in the NFL. That said, I do see him being a valuable addition to just about any team as a utility player and a short yardage/red zone QB. I think barring injury, he can have a nice, long career.

  • I saw him on a show the other day. Behind the scenes kind of thing. He was shopping for an agent. He was in a meeting with one and told him he only wanted to go to a team that would let him be QB. Flashback to last years draft. I recall him being interviewed and in his totally fake "I'm a 12 year old good boy that does no wrong ever" voice and facial expressions he declared he didn't care where he played and that he would play any position the team needed him to play to help the team. The standard perfect answer. But video of his meeting with the agent shows he's a complete liar and fake. This is just one example. And my God JawJacker just go lube him up and propose already. I haven't seen one man slobber so much over another man since Brokeback Mountain.

  • I agree hoss. There is a lot of room for certain packages for Tebow to run and his leadership is second to none. He is an asset as a teammate to anyone. Now teams are beginning to see how to play him. In 2 straight games his team has had the lead and hasn't been able to maintain it. One thing most people overlook with a QB is their ability to keep a lead once ahead.

That opinion is about as dumbass as it gets. Its just wrong period. So many terrible QB's get chance after chance in the NFL. Tebow is a natural born leader, and great locker room guy who's improving as a QB. He'll get all the chances he wants to be a starter. Matter of fact he'll be starting for Denver next year. Its about winning football games period. Its funny to see people jump on and off this bandwagon so quickly.

Its funnier to see a man jump over himself just to make up shit that he knows isn't true to push an agenda.

  • Since I have the same opinion whit I would love to know what is dumbass about it? The fact that we believe he won't be an every day QB? That is our opinion and we are basing it on the way he has looked and performed so far. We aren't saying he hasn't won because he has we aren't taking that away from him. Personally I just don't think he can continue the success.

Also no need for the dumbass comment. If you disagree then say that, why be like that?

  • I said the opinion was dumbass not the poster and I thought we played by different rules on this particular board anyway. I wouldn't call an opinion dumbass on the other boards because it would be a thread killer. It just pains me to see people say that he's not an everyday QB when he's turned a team from 1-4 to a possible playoff team. And while he hasn't looked great doing it he's still won games. Lets also not forgot that he's basically still a rookie QB, not many of those guys look good every game. Still as sports fans we appreciate the guys that can come up with wins during the learning process. Cam Newton has started more games than Tebow has thus far. If you want to just focus on the negatives there are plenty, but you can't deny the fact that he wins and he does so because of intangibles and doing things other QB's can't and won't. Is he your traditional QB? Hell NO. Can he still get it done in this league with what he brings to the table? ABSOFREAKINLUTELY and he has this year. Seems like people want to turn a blind eye to that and to me that constitues Dumbass. People keep jumping on and off the bandwagon and while I'm a fan for a number of different reasons that don't even involve football I'm with Tebow. I just like what he brings to the table. Its different and frankly I'm sick of seeing these pure passers put up huge numbers because of the way rules are being enforced. You can't even tough these guys or their targets which makes these guys not even football players. And thats about all I got to say on that.

And those "terrible" QBs are always on the chopping block. FWIW, I've held this opinion of Tebow since last year, and have never been on the bandwagon to jump off. Right now Tebow in 3rd from the bottom in the NFL QB rankings. Of the two guys below him, one has already been replaced, and the other is playing because of injury to the starter. Like I said, he's a very good "situational" QB, but not an every down guy......and that's no slam on him personally or as a player. He is what he is....

Yeah if you read I didnt say you called anyone a dumbass. I even said as much in my first line. We will see what the future holds. The kid has won Im not taking that away from him. I just dont see him doing it on a consistent level. You may see that as being dumbass I see it as a wait and see approach. Its good to have faith in a kid Im just not nor have I been on that bandwagon. Its not about hating Tebow or anything else. He has won a small percentage of games and Im just not ready to crown him the next nfl "superstar". Could he become a Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson type who makes a play here and there and supports a strong D, and a great running game? Sure. If he greatly improves his QB play and continues not to turn the ball over.

  • Eh. Tim Tebow as a person, I'm sure he's a great man. I've never met him to give an opinion on that. BUT, the constant media suckage, really does annoy the hell outta me.

I never changed my tune. I have said from the start I dont believe he will be a full time QB in this league. That hasnt changed.

He won't acknowledge it when it does happen. He'll use the tired old excuse that he's being punished for being a Christian. Not because he's a gimmicky suck of a QB.

So your argument is that he won't have a good career. Man thats pretty broad. If your so sure of what he is why don't you go out on a little more of a limb. Do you think he'll start in the NFL at QB next year?

You got me confused with someone else. I really think the guy has a chance to be a good QB in the league. He's already improved a ton. I'm arguing at this point from a football perspective. I just think on top of what he is as a football player which I love and anybody who loves football should love what he stands for as a player he's a great person and a good role model for kids. Its not that hard to understand really I'm a parent and have two young nephews.

  • My opinion is... Christian or not (has nothing to do with it), I really think Tim Tebow will prove to be an exceptional QB in the NFL. The guy is a winner... pure and simple. IMHO

And Christian or not, I completely disagree. . . The guy would make a good TE maybe, and run some special packages as a QB, just don't think he's ever going to be an every down QB. . . He'll most likely get the chance to be the #1 guy all off season in Denver though, and begin the year as the starter. . . So honestly none of us are going to have an answer to this question until next year at the earliest. . . And as a Kentucky fan who does not like Florida, and as a Chiefs fan who hates the Broncos, I have absolutely no reason to cheer for the guy. . .

signature image signature image signature image

  • Yeah I believe he begins the season next year as the starter and will show a flash or two and by week 12 the broncos will be looking for a back up plan. tWhit you understand that I really truly dont give a damn about Tebow right? I dont care if he succeeds or fails. I just gave my opinion. The ONLY reason I even have an opinion is because Woodyard plays for Denver and they gave a shot to Braxton and Jeremy as well. I am no professional QB coach but when you complete 48% of your passes and your rushing average is almost the same as your passing yards per attempt its pretty telling. I believe Tebow had 8 TD's and 1 pick thru a certain part of the season. Now he has 12 and 6. That is a 4 to 5 ratio and more likely the telling argument. This isnt even counting the fact that he fumbles...a lot. In his last 3 games he has thrown 5(3 rushing) TD's 5 Int's fumbled 5 times losing 2 of those. He has been sacked 12 times losing 93 yards. He has rushed for 176 yards on 34 carries averaging roughly 5.2 yards a carry.

Sorry tWhit but those arent even mediocre stats.
