We had advance warning and it was ignored just like we had advance warning before Pearl Harbor and yet the government and it's ineptitude allowed these tragic events to occur. Perhaps it was ineptitude, laziness, disbelief, or a willfull choice but the intelligence community had info that could've/should've prevented these from happening.

To suggest that the government planned 9/11 is a huge stretch of the imagination, imo.

I think the ultimate question is HOW MUCH NOTICE did we have before 9/11? I don't think it is quite as clear as a lot of the anti-government conspiracy theorist want to believe, but I don't think there is much doubt we knew something was in the works. Even in that case, what do you do to stop it? People need to remember that today's enemies and wars aren't traditional enemies and wars in the sense that if you know they are planning something, you simply go make a preemptive strike. You can have all the heads up in the world that terror groups have something planned, but unless you know where each cell or individual agent is located and when/where they are striking, there is little you can do about it in advance.

I think a lot of people just want to believe we could have prevented it from happening by just sending the military or government agencies (e.g. CIA, NSA, etc.) into action and all would be well. Unfortunately, its not that simple when fighting this kind of war (or trying to prevent one). We can stop some attacks on our soil in advance, but not all. That is the scary thing. Frankly, I'm amazed there haven't been more since then.

Its funny I trained a guy last night who was in the Army some kind of engineer or something in the army and he basically said the exact same thing you said in this post Cobby. I liked the guy except for the fact that he was a diehard Loserville fan.
