What's everybody reading?

  • Not much going on on this board, but this topic usually gets some comments or gives me some ideas.

I'm about 3/4 through "Death in the City of Light." The guy who wrote it is from Lexington and a former UK professor (not that it has anything to do with the story).

It's a true crime story about a doctor who was killing people during the Nazi occupation of Paris. A lot of them he'd just kill for meanness, but he was also a member of the French resistance and would take people's money (mostly Jews) to secretly get them out of the country, then he'd just kill them, throw them in a hole in his cellar and pour quick lime on them. Estimates are he killed 150 people or more. The Nazis covered it up for some reason that hasn't been made clear yet.

  • I started reading "Assholes Finish First" by Tucker Max on a cross-country trip for work a couple of weeks ago. I haven't picked it back up since I got back from the trip, but it is funny as hell. I recommend it to anyone wanting a good laugh, but I also warn that it is dirty as can be and is not for those who are easily offended.

  • I just read "Bang the Drum Slowly" for the first time. What an incredible book. I imagine many of you have read it, or have at least seen the movie (I have not). It's a great story brilliantly told.
