UK gets commit from top-50 prospect

Kentucky received its first 2014 commitment Tuesday morning from 4-star defensive end Denzel Ware.

Judging by its first commitment, the success the Kentucky football staff had with the 2013 class may have just been a prelude to what the Wildcats will do in the 2014 recruiting cycle.

Kentucky got on the board Tuesday morning, receiving a commitment from Opp (Ala.) four-star weakside defensive end Denzel Ware.

"Yes, I'm committed," Ware confirmed via text message with "I have a great relationship with coach [Mark] Stoops and coach [D.J.] Eliot. It's just where I wanna be."

Rated as the No. 4 weakside defensive end in the country by 247Sports, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound Ware was committed to Florida State before decommitting from the Seminoles Feb. 3. He now follows former FSU coaches Mark Stoops and D.J. Eliot to Lexington.

Ware held early scholarship offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Ohio State, Texas, USC and many others.

He recently transferred to Opp High School from Crestview (Fla.).

Ware says he will try to visit UK at some point this summer.
